3 yrs imprisonment awarded in kidnapping case

Srinagar, Nov 26: A local court today sentenced a man for three years in a kidnapping case in Srinagar.
The 2nd Additional Munsiff Srinagar Muneer Ahmad convicted an accused in the 2017 kidnapping case after more than three years of trial.
On 06.09.2017 Police Station Soura received a written complaint from the father of a girl that her 15 years minor daughter has been kidnapped by accused Manzoor Ahmad Bhat by taking advantage of her minority.
An case (FIR No 68/2017) for kidnapping a minor girl was registered and the investigation was started by then SHO Police Station Soura Inspector Ayaz Geelani. During investigation a minor girl was recovered from the accused person on 09.09.2017 and the accused was arrested and after completing all the legal formalities the challan was presented before the court against the accused person.
During trial nine witnesses were recorded by court of 2nd Additional Munsiff Srinagar including the victim who stated in statement that after kidnapping, the accused person confined her for six days and even did not allowed her to make a call to her home and has further stated before court that the accused person once beat her as well when she asked him to take her home.
Accordingly, Court of 2nd Additional Munsiff Srinagar Muneer Ahmad has convicted the accused Manzoor Ahmad with simple imprisonment for 3 years.
Meanwhile the Superintendent Central Jail Srinagar was directed to execute the punishment and in case the accused has already suffered 3 years imprisonment then the same shall be deemed as punishment and he be set at liberty forthwith.
