RAJOURI, Feb 7: Three youths were injured in two separate road accidents in different areas of Rajouri town on Saturday.
One of the injured, whose condition was critical, was referred to Jammu by helicopter. According to reports, Mohammad Asif, son of Maqbool Hussain, a resident of Makhu Laddhor, was riding his motorcycle when, near Alpha Gate in Rajouri, his bike overturned due to high speed while trying to give way to an oncoming vehicle. The bike collided with the parapet. Mohammad Asif was seriously injured in the accident.
Army personnel present at the scene immediately took him to the Army’s 150 General Hospital for first aid and then transferred him to GMC Rajouri in an army ambulance. After treatment at GMC Rajouri, his condition worsened, and he was referred to Jammu.
The injured youth’s family and some other people contacted Rajouri MLA Iftikhar Ahmed and requested him to arrange a helicopter to shift the injured to Jammu. The MLA raised the issue in the ongoing assembly session in Kashmir and demanded that a helicopter be sent to Rajouri to save the life of the critically injured youth. Following this, the Government took action, and a helicopter was sent from Jammu by the Divisional Commissioner, on which the injured youth was referred to Jammu.
Meanwhile, in another incident in the Chhaparia area of Rajouri in the evening, a motorcycle collided with another vehicle, injuring two youths, Mubashar Hussain Shah and Mohammad Altaf. Both were referred to GMC Rajouri by local people with the help of the police, where they are currently undergoing treatment, and their condition is reported to be stable. The police have taken cognizance of both incidents and initiated action.
