RAJOURI, June 1: In a significant operation, the police seized three vehicles loaded with 20 bovine animals and arrested four persons for smuggling milch animals in Nowshera area of Rajouri district.
Official sources said that police established a naka at Thalka under Nowshera police jurisdiction, last night. During the operation police team intercepted three vehicles suspected of transporting bovine animals unlawfully.
Upon inspection the vehicles were found to be carrying a total of 20 bovine animals in a cruel and unsafe manner, violating all standard norms and guidelines. The vehicles involved in the smuggling—bearing registration numbers JK11A-4408 JK12B 1415 and JK14F-0793—were being used without valid permission from the competent authorities thereby violating the standing orders of the District Magistrate Rajouri which strictly prohibits the transportation of bovine animals without due authorization.
The police registered three cases under FIR Nos. 71/2025, 72/2025 and 73/2025 at Police Station Nowshera. All the three vehicles were seized on the spot and legal proceedings have been initiated against the four accused persons arrested on the spot.
They were identified as Mohd Mukhtiyar, son of Mohd Suvhan, resident of Rajpur Kamila Qila Darhal; Sushil Kumar, son of Ram Lal, resident of Bhawani Nowshera; Mohd Javid, son of Mohd Israel, resident of Androth, Qila Darhal and Abdul Aziz, son of Dwad Hussain resident of Raipur Kamila Qila Darhal, Rajouri.
However one accused Wahid Ali, son of Mohd Younis, a resident of Raipur Kamila who was driving one of the vehicles, managed to flee.
The operation was led by Station House Officer (SHO) of Police Station Nowshera Inspector Arjun Magotra under the close supervision of SDPO Nowshera Sahil Mahajan.
