Srinagar, Feb 4: Police today claimed to have arrested three timber smugglers while cutting the green gold in a forest area in Boniyar in Baramulla district.
A police spokesman said acting on a tip off a police party headed by the SHO Boniyar apprehended three timber smugglers, who were cutting the green timber from Forest Compartment No.51 Bachi Trikanjan, Boniyar.
They were identified as Ghulam Ahmad Bhat son of Mohammad Shabir Bachi, Trikanjan, Ghulam Nabi Sheikh son of Wali Mohammad Sheikh and Mohammad Maqbool Sheikh son of Ghulam Mohammad Sheikh of Ladi.
“A case FIR No.01 /2014 under Section 379 RPC, 6 F. Act was registered against the trio and investigation is ongoing,” the spokesman said.
