3 smugglers held, 10 bovines rescued

DODA, Jan 4: Police here today foiled a bovine smuggling bid and arrested three smugglers rescuing 10 bovines.
During a Naka checking at Premnagar cops intercepted two vehicles.
The vehicle bearing registration numbers JK19-6947 was driven by Shoket Ali, son of Din Mohd Gujjar, resident of Basti, Tehsil Bhalla, Doda and his Co-driver was Mohd Rafiq, son of Ghulam Hussain, resident of Reena Chaka, Rajgarh, Ramban. The vehicle bearing registration number JK06B-1503 was driven by Fareed Ahmed, son of Bashir Ahmed, resident of Darmound, Batote, District Ramban.
During vehicle checking, it was found that the drivers were illegally transporting bovines in a cruel manner violating orders by the District Magistrate, Doda.
Five buffaloes were recovered from the vehicle bearing number JK19-6947, whereas five other bovines were recovered from the vehicle with number JK06B-1503. These animals were being transported to Kashmir illegally.
Police has registered a case in this regard and started investigation.
