JAMMU, Oct 29: Vigilance Organization Jammu booked four persons including three revenue officials for tampering land records.
As per official spokespersons, a verification was conducted into the allegations levelled against Revenue officers/officials of Tehsil Akhnoor by Vigilance Organisation, Jammu, which revealed that co-sharers namely Dev Raj Sharma and Ashok Kumar, both sons of Late Ram Dass of Village Daskal, Tehsil Akhnoor were in joint possession of land measuring 1 Kanal and 13 Marlas in village Manda, Tehsil Akhnoor.
The accused officers/officials namely Mahesh Chander, the then Patwari Halqa Manda, Kamal Singh, the then Girdawar and Vishwamitra Sharma, the then Naib Tehsildar Akhnoor, entered into a criminal conspiracy with Ashok Kumar and by abuse of their official position in furtherance of criminal conspiracy manipulated the records and issued revenue extracts in favour of Sanjeev Kumar, son of Ravi Dutt Brahmin of Bhalwal and Ram Paul, son of Om Parkash Brahmin of Nakyan Akhnoor.
The accused persons in willful omission to the knowledge born by them as reflected in the records regarding the land measuring 1 Kanal and 13 Marlas belonging to two share holders excluded the name of the complainant against illegal consideration.
In view of the above, it is prima facie established that the revenue officers/officials in blatant abuse of their official position and in active connivance with beneficiary namely Ashok Kumar manipulated the revenue record and thus conferred upon him the undue benefit.
The aforesaid acts of omissions and commission on the part of three accused public servants and beneficiary constitute offences punishable under Section 5 (1) (d) r/w 5 (2) J&K PC Act.2006 and 468, 471 and 120-B RPC and accordingly a case under FIR No 33/15 was registered against them at police station Vigilance Organization Jammu for further investigation.
