UDHAMPUR, Jan 11: Police arrested three inter-district drug peddlers at Chenani and recovered 8.29 grams heroin from their posession.
The trio was travelling in Maruti Suzuki Wagon-R taxi, bearing registration number JK01AU-9625 coming from Jammu towards Srinagar, which was intercepted by a team of Police Station Chenani, led by SHO Raghubir Singh, while performing routine checking at Motor Shed, NHW Chenani.
During checking, the driver identified himself as Shakeel Ahmad Sofi, son of o Abdul Rashid Sofi, resident of Zainkote, Srinagar. On personal search, heroin was recovered from his possession. Further checking of two other occupants namely Noor Mohd Ganie son of Abdul Rahman, resident of Zainkote, Srinagar and Junaid Fayaz, son of Fayaz Ahmad Sheikh, resident of Shahi Hamdan Lane, District Srinagar also led to recovery of heroin from their personal possession.
In total, 8.29 grams of heroin was recovered from all the three accused persons. Accordingly, FIR No. 03/2026 U/S 8/21/22 NDPS Act has been registered at Police Station Chenani and further investigation is in progress.
