SRINAGAR, Feb 7: Three persons were injured today in an explosion at Hajin area of North Kashmir’s Bandipora district. The explosive was lying under the debris of the house that was razed to rubble by security forces three days ago.
Police said the three persons sustained injuries when the grenade lying in debris of a house went off. “All the three were shifted to hospital but their condition is stated to be stable,” said the police. On February 4, three Pakistani militants were killed in a gunfight at Hajin with security forces.
Meanwhile, clashes broke out between protesters and security forces amid shutdown at Newa area of south Kashmir’s Pulwama district soon after the funeral of a militant killed yesterday was over.
Thousands of people attended the funeral of Raqib Bashir, a deserter-turned militant, at Zadoora in the district. The mourners also staged a massive protest and after the funeral was over they clashed with security forces at Newa.
Following clashes, police imposed restrictions in Newa and its adjoining areas to prevent escalation of violence. Elsewhere in Pulwama, a spontaneous shutdown was observed by people but the traffic plied normally and situation remained peaceful.
