3 drug smugglers booked under NDPS Act

SRINAGAR, Aug 12: Police in Baramulla today booked the three wanted and notorious drug smugglers under PIT-NDPS Act after obtaining formal detention orders from the competent authority.
As per police, the three accused drug smugglers were identified as Khurshid Ahmad Bakshi son of Mohd Rafiq Bakshi resident of Watalpora, Tangmarg, Fayaz Ahmad Wani son of Abdul Jabbar Wani, resident of Dangerpora Baramulla and Bashir Ahmad Ganai son of Lt. Wali Mohd Ganai resident of Trikanjan, Boniyar.
They have been booked under PIT-NDPS Act after obtaining formal detention orders from the competent authority.
“The booked drug smugglers have been detained and subsequently lodged in Central Jail Kot-Bhalwal Jail Jammu,” police said.
Police said here that many cases are registered against the said drug smugglers. They were involved in promoting the drug abuse trade by supplying drugs to local youth of Watalpora Tangmarg, Dangerpora, Heewan, Sheeri, Trikanjan Boniyar and other areas of District Baramulla.
“Despite their involvement in many FIRs, they did not mend their activities and were again involved in promoting drug abuse-trade by supplying drugs to local youth,” police said.
