UDHAMPUR, Mar 26: Police arrested a narcotic smuggler from Circular Road near Devika Ghat and recovered heroin from his possession while two more drug peddlers were apprehended with psychotropic capsules.
A police team of Police Station Udhampur while performing patrolling duty near the main gate of Devika Ghat on Circular Road, Udhampur, noticed one suspicious person coming on foot from Devika Ghat towards the Matador Stand. On noticing the police vehicle, the person abruptly turned back and started walking in the opposite direction in a hurried manner, which raised suspicion.
The police party immediately intercepted the suspect who disclosed his identity as Raju son of Abdullah of Shiv Nagar, Udhampur. During his personal search, 2.84 grams of heroin was recovered from his possession. The accused was arrested on the spot and the contraband was seized.
In this connection, FIR No. 99/2026 U/S 8/21/22 NDPS Act has been registered at Police Station Udhampur and further investigation of the case is underway.
Meanwhile, Police Station Udhampur apprehended two more drug peddlers and recovered 260 Pregabalin capsules from their possession.
The duo was intercepted during routine patrolling. During their checking, 260 Pregabalin capsules were recovered from their possession.
The accused have been identified as Bupinder Singh, son of Kuldeep Singh, resident of Pangara, Udhampur and Mukesh Kumar, son of Govind Ram, resident of Panthal, District Reasi. In this regard, FIR No. 100/2026 U/S 8/21/22 NDPS Act has been registered at Police Station Udhampur, and further investigation of the case is in progress.
