3 drug peddlers arrested

SRINAGAR, Apr 23: Continuing its efforts to eradicate the menace of drugs from the society, Police today said to have arrested two drug peddlers in Anantnag and recovered contraband substance from their possession.
Official sources said that a police party from Police Station Mattan at a checkpoint established at Aunag Mattipora intercepted one person identified as Manzoor Ahmad Sofi, son of Abdul Aziz Sofi resident of Kandarpora Guree “Anantnag. On checking, 200 grams of charas was recovered from his possession. He has been arrested and shifted to Police Station.
In another action, another police party of Police Station Mattan headed by SHO Mattan apprehended a suspected person identified as Gulzar Ahmad Paddar, son of Mohd Ramzan Paddar, resident of Nanil, Mattan.
On checking, 02 kilograms of cannabis powder and 4 kilograms of ‘Bung Bossa’ were recovered from his possession. He has been arrested and shifted to Police Station.
Accordingly, case vide FIR numbers 26/2021 & 27/2021 were registered in Police Station Mattan respectively and investigation has been initiated.
Meanwhile, Police in Budgam have arrested a notorious drug peddler and recovered contraband substance from his possession.
Police said that Chadoora police team intercepted a person identified as Asim Mushtaq Bhat, son of Mushtaq Ahmad Bhat, resident of Bugam Chadoora. During checking, 7 grams of Heroin was recovered from his possession. He has been arrested and shifted to Police Station.
A case vide FIR number 45/2021 under relevant sections of law stands registered at Police Station Chadoora and investigation was taken up.
