29 injured in police lathicharge

Srinagar, Sept 29: More than two dozen persons were injured after police resorted to baton charge to break-up the scuffle which had broken out between the residents of two villages over water supply in Bagambagh village of south Kashmir’s Pulwama district.
A scuffle broke out between the residents of Bagambagh and Ratnipora villages of the Pulwama over the supply of drinking  water today.
Witnesses said the intense baton charge left 22 women and 7 men injured and many of whom were taken to hospital for treatment. The locals said that two injured persons are still in Kakapora hospital.
Following the police action, the residents of Bagambagh staged massive protests against the police and alleged that they were “selectively targeted”.
The protests against the police continued for several hours in the village and routine activities came to standstill.
