SRINAGAR, May 24: Twenty eight people today tested positive for the COVID-19 in Kashmir taking the total number of positive cases in Jammu and Kashmir to 1621.
Medical Superintendent SKIMS hospital in Srinagar, Dr Farooq Jan, told Excelsior that all pending 5500 samples were processed today at virology lab and 47 tested positive.
He said that out of the 47 positive cases, 25 are from Kulgam and one each from Baramulla and Shopian. While rest are from Jammu. All those from Kashmir have travel history except one from Shopian district.
Those from Kulgam district include7 from village Karawa. They are three women and a girl aged 35, 30, 35 and 11 years respectively and two men and one boy aged 39, 37 and 14 years.
Thirteen among positives are from village Chhatabal including 8 women and a girl aged 30, 24, 51, 25, 30, 60, 20 and 16 years and four men aged 65, 55, 37 and 24 respectively. A man and two women aged 45, 42 and 21 respectively are from Punipora village of the district. Two women 23 and 25 years of age are from Avil village in district Kulgam.
A 26 years old woman and 24 year old man from Vihil village in Shopian and Rafiabad in Baramulla district tested positive for the COVID-19.
One person from Kupwara district tested positive at Northern Command Army Headquarters hospital at Udhampur today.
The Principal SKIMS Medical College Srinagar, Dr Riyaz Untoo told Excelsior that 123 samples including 59 from Srinagar and 64 from Anantnag were processed at SKIMS Bemina today and none tested positive.
With today’s positive cases, the total number of positives in Kashmir has reached to 1360 including 734 recoveries and 19 deaths.
There are 791 active cases in Jammu and Kashmir including 607 from Kashmir division.
So far 130433 tests were conducted for COVD-19 in J&K and 128812 samples have been tested as negative and 1621 as positive.
With today’s positive cases, Bandipora has 139 positive cases with 9 active, 129 recovered, one death; Srinagar has 179 positive cases with 48 active, 125 recovered, six deaths; Anantnag district has 273 positive cases with 160 active, 109 recovered, 4 deaths; Baramulla has 137 positive cases with 35 active, 98 recovered, 4 deaths; Shopian has 128 positive cases with 21 active, 107 recovered; Kupwara has 164 positive cases with 94 active, 70 recovered; Budgam has 64 positive cases, with 15 active and 47 recovered cases and two deaths; Ganderbal has 27 positive cases with 3 active and 24 recoveries; Kulgam has 224 positive cases with 207 active and 15 recoveries and two deaths and Pulwama has 25 positive cases with 15 active and 10 recovered.
There are 132594 travellers and persons in contact with suspected cases who have been enlisted for surveillance which included 31816 persons in home quarantine including facilities operated by Government, 71 in Hospital Quarantine, 791 in hospital isolation and 28600 under home surveillance. Besides, 71295 persons have completed their surveillance period.
