SRINAGAR, Mar 8: About 60 persons, including 26 personnel, were injured in fresh violence today in the Kashmir valley, where people took to streets defying curfew restrictions.
Security forces burst teargas shells and resorted lathicharge to disperse a procession at Batmaloo in the city this afternoon.
Several people were injured in the exchange of stone pelting between security forces and violent mob.
A police spokesman said this evening that there were some incidents of stone pelting at some places in which 26 police and CRPF personnel, including some officers, were injured while tackling the situations at different places.
He said miscreants pelted stones at Soura in Srinagar, footbridge Dewan Bagh in Baramulla, Shopian, Anantnag, Awantipora, Qaimouh Kulgam, Sopore and Handwara.
However, official sources said security forces burst teargas shells and resorted to lathicharge at these places to disperse the demonstrators.
They said about 60 persons were injured in these clashes. (AGENCIES)
