SRINAGAR: Twenty-six fresh guests from Pakistan occupied Kashmir (PoK) arrived here while only six people of Kashmir crossed over to other side of the Line of Control (LoC) to meet their relative, separated in 1947.
The Karvan-e-Aman bus, operating between Srinagar and Muzaffarabad, capital of PoK, could not operate last week due to landslides, triggered by rain.
Meanwhile, 141 returnees also cross sides at Kaman post, the last Indian military post on this side of the LoC in Uri sector, official sources said here today.
They said due to protests at Delina in Baramulla on Srinagar -Muzaffarabad, the Karvan-e-Aman bus was delayed yesterday.
They said 26 fresh PoK guests, including ten women and nine children, arrived at Kaman post after crossing the Aman Setu, peace bridge on foot to meet their relatives in Kashmir.
However, five Kashmiris, who had gone to PoK, also returned to their homes after completing stay with their relatives, separated in 1947. They included two women.
Sources said six Kashmiris, including two women, crossed over to other side of the LoC to visit their relatives.
However, 136 PoK residents, who had come here in previous buses, returned to their homes. They included 46 women and 32 children.
The Aman bus has helped thousands of families, separated during partition, to meet each other since the service was flagged off by Prime Minister Manmohan Singh on April 7,2005 following agreement between two countries to allow travel of divided families on permits instead of International Passport.
