UDHAMPUR, Mar 27: Police foiled four bovine smuggling attempts and rescued 26 bovines in separate incidents, three under the jurisdiction of Police Station Udhampur and one in Ramnagar.
During routine checking, a police team intercepted a truck bearing registration No. JK03E-0218. The vehicle was found loaded with 14 bovines, which were being transported in a cruel and inhumane manner without any valid permission. Police rescued the animals while driver of the vehicle managed to escape.
In another incident, police intercepted a vehicle bearing registration No. JK19A-9177, which was found loaded with four bovines being transported without valid permission. Police rescued the animals and arrested the accused driver, identified as Jamat Ali, son of Munir Hussain of Nikki Tawi, Jammu.
Similarly, during naka checking, another vehicle bearing registration No. JK19A-6687 was intercepted. Upon checking, four bovines were found loaded in the vehicle being transported in a cruel manner without any valid permission. Police rescued the animals and arrested the vehicle driver, identified as Mohd Jaseen, son of Mohd Yaqoob of Nikki Tawi, Jammu.
In all three cases, vehicles were also seized and separate FIRs have been registered at Police station Udhampur.
Meanwhile four more bovine animals were rescued when a Police team of Police Station Ramnagar intercepted a Tata Safari vehicle, bearing registration number JK02AH-1400 at Kougha naka point. Driver managed to escape while the vehicle was seized.
