25 bovines rescued

UDHAMPUR, Sept 25: Police rescued 25 bovines being smuggled to Srinagar by two unidentified men.

According to a police spokesperson, on the intervening night of September 24 and 25 two unidentified men were on their way to Chenani to Srinagar to smuggle 25 bovine animals on foot when a police team from police station Chenani intercepted the accused on Chenani-Sringar National Highway, 2 kilometer away from Chenani.

On seeing the police team, the smugglers fled from the spot taking cover of night while the 25 bovines being smuggled by them to Srinagar, were rescued by the police.

The bovine animals were rescued by a police team led by SHO Chenani, Mahesh Sharma under the supervision of SDPO Chenani, Vinod Sharma and SSP Udhampur, Suleman Choudhary.
