JAMMU, Dec 26: The 24th two days J&K UT level ITF Taekwondo Championship-2021, organized by Ganesha Academy of Martial Arts (GAMA) Shastri Nagar, concluded, here today wherein 150 contestants both boys and girls from the several districts of J&K took part.
The championship was organized in different categories as well as events including individual sparring, individual tuls, group tuls, group sparring and special techniques.
The junior category below 10 years excelled in the event by clinching a maximum of gold medals in the mega event. The participants from Kishtwar and Doda districts performed the highest in the event.
All the gold medallists of the event have been selected to represent J&K in the National ITF Taekwondo Championship, which is scheduled to be held at Rishikesh (Uttarakhand) from January21 to 23.
The gold medals were secured by Prabhas Sen, Ayush Parihar, Suksham Thakur, Pradhuman Thakur, Arnav Sen, Sankait Thakur, Surjeet Thakur and Anaya Rajput from Kishtwar Academy of Martial Arts (KAMA), Namika Mahajan, Sohani Sen, Rableen Kour, Yashasvi Bhagat, Manpreet Singh, Pavneet Kour, Anjali Thakur, Shreya, Manraj Singh Sudan, Sarvagya Gupta, Chaitanya Jasrotia, Shaurya Sharma, Ishmeet Singh from Jammu and Mohd Arsalan from Doda.
The silver medals were won by Udhav Raj Singh, Harshit Sehgal, Aryan Sharma, Pragun Bhagat, Ayush Sharma, Sparsh, Mahir Chowdhary, Aadeep Sen, Saiansh Bhat, Atharv Rathore, Prabhjot Singh, Lavanya Sharma, Tejasvini Gupta, Sehajpreet Tanvi Sen, Saranya Gupta, Thakur Anshuman Singh, Santushti, Chaitanya Jasrotia and Simran, besides the bronze medals were clinched by Ishaan Brahma, Reyansh Singh, Dhananjay, Ayaan Tickoo, Yuvraj Gupta, Abhirath Chambyal, Paras Gupta, Bhavneet Sen, Ankit Kumar, Hrishik Brahma, Sushant, Abhiraj Singh, Ananya Sharma, Akshara Kumari, Himadri Rana, Aadhya Gupta, Akshdeep Singh, Mohd Arsalan, Kavya Kochhar, Vansh Rathore, Tejasvini Gupta and Thakur Anshuman Singh.
Former Deputy Chief Minister, Kavinder Gupta was the chief guest and blessed the participants with medals, while Vinay Gupta, District president (BJP) was the guest of honour in presence of Narinder Gupta (Koki), District secretary (BJP).
The championship was organized by GAMA under the banner of All J&K Taekwondo Association (AJKTA), IITF and ITF under the presidentship of Mukesh K Thakur, international gold medallist.
Pawan Singh Jamwal, Amit Sharma, Geetansh Thakur, Bhavin Thakur, Rahul Khanmotra, Ambika Gupta, Shakti Verma, Surjeet Thakur, Sachin Kumar Thakur and Raju were among the officials of the Association were present during the closing ceremony of the event.
