UDHAMPUR, June 30: Another free eye medical camp, 24th in the series and in coordination with Rotary Eye Hospital, was organized by Sham Lal Khajuria of Udhampur at Lali Dabar in Mongri Tehsil.
The aim of organizing these camps in the area is to prevent vision problems among the elderly and vulnerable sections, especially those who are deprived of health facilities. Under this camp, services like vision check-up, free medicines and spectacles were provided, which benefited hundreds of villagers.
In this 24th eye camp, 25 cataract patients were identified in the area, who will be further examined at the Rotary Hospital in Udhampur city on July 10 and then operations will be done.
According to social activist Preeti Khajuria, they have been organizing free medical camps every year for the people of this area for the last 24 years so that locals do not have to travel long distances to the city for eye treatment.
During the camp, 110 eyeglasses were also given to the needy. “Due to lack of access to health facilities, many villagers face the problem of losing vision. This camp was an attempt to bridge this gap. Medical camps or eye camps also have a positive impact on the emotional well-being of the patients, promote community support and reduce financial burden,” said Preeti Khajuria, adding that more such camps will be organized in the future.
On the occasion, Rotary’s Anil Gupta (HR Manager), Mukesh Yadav (Optometrist), Navneet Kumar (Optometrist), Vikas (CHW), Ved Prakash (OPD Coordinator), Vijay Kumar, Manisha, Priya, Harvinder Singh, Surjeet Singh were present.
