24 bovines rescued, 3 smugglers arrested

UDHAMPUR, Apr 5: Udhampur Police foiled two bovine smuggling attempts and rescued 24 bovines besides arresting three smugglers.
A truck (JK03N-2697) carrying 11 bovines in a cruel manner, was intercepted by a Police team of PS Rehambal at Phalata Naka point. Accused driver namely Zaid Ahmed Khatana and helper Khursheed Ahmed Chichi were arrested o the spot and the vehicle was seized.
In this regard, a case FIR No. 71/2026 U/S 223 BNS & 11 PCA Act has been registered at Police Station Rehambal.
Meanwhile, Police team of PS Majalta, while performing naka checking at Battal, intercepted a truck (JK03F-5957), which was carrying 13 bovines without valid permission. Driver Nisar Ahmad Khan, son of Gh Qadir Khan of Shangus, Anantnag was arrested and the vehicle was seized.
In this regard, a case FIR No. 46/2026 U/S 223(a) BNS & 11 PCA Act has been registered at PS Majalta.
