2290 Budha Amarnath pilgrims reach Poonch

POONCH, July 27: While the rush of pilgrims to Shri Budha Amarnathji shrine in Mandi continues to increase, a batch of nearly 2290 ‘yatris’ in 34 buses and some light vehicles reached Poonch town here this evening from Jammu.
Most of the pilgrims who arrived today from Jammu base camp hail from Karnataka, Maharashtra, Rajasthan, Punjab and Haryana. They started from Jammu base camp in the morning. They were accorded reception at Sunderbani, Rajouri and Bhimber Gali enroute Poonch.
The pilgrims’ number is increasing day by day. A sharp increase in the number of yatris has been witnessed in last 3-4 days. The pilgrims were received at Poonch town by the Yatra Reception Committee members and Addl SP Poonch, Yougal Manhas. SD Sabha president and other office bearers, VHP and Bajrang Dal district body members, Akhara Mandir management committee and other prominent citizens were also present.
As the number of pilgrims was large, some additional accommodation was arranged at ITI hostel and another Government building by the district administration today. These pilgrims are generally being accommodated at Degree College, two Higher Secondary schools, Geeta Bhawan and ITI building. The pilgrims will leave for Shri Budha Amarnath shrine at Mandi town in the morning.
