22 members in fray for 9 posts of BoDs

JAMMU, Sept 17: A poor, nearly 25% polling has been recorded in the elections for the nine posts of Board of Directors of Citizens’ Cooperative Bank Ltd held in Jammu and Samba districts today.
According to Returning Officer of the elections, ADC Jammu Mr Khajuria, out of the total 18106 votes, 4416 votes were polled. A total 23 polling stations were set up and the polling was held between 10 am to 4.40 pm. Eleven Naib Tehsildars besides other revenue officials besides staff from Education department  had been deployed on the polling duty. The polling remained peaceful throughout the two districts. ADC disclosed that counting will start at 9 am tomorrow at Bhagwati Nagar based Yatri Niwas for Shri Amarnathji pilgrims and the results will also be declared tomorrow. A total 22 members are in the fray for 9 posts of Board of Directors.
The highest number of 578 votes were polled at R S Pura polling station, 537 at Akhnoor in district Jammu while 372 at Vijaypur, the only polling station in district Samba. The polling was low in majority of  the polling stations in Jammu city. Former chairpersons of  Board of Directors, Dinesh Gupta and Omkar Seth are also contesting besides some prominent citizens like Capt Anil Gour, Ashwani Puri, K K Langar, Rajiv Chuni, former Mayor Narinder Singh, advocate Surinder Singh and others.
