RAJOURI, Oct 16: At least 22 persons were injured, four of them seriously in two separate road accidents in Rajouri and Poonch districts today.
Reports from Poonch said that six persons were injured, three of them seriously when Xylo vehicle No. JK-11/ 1375 rolled down the road near Guntrian this afternoon. The mishap took place when the vehicle was on way to Mandi from Shahpur. The driver lost control and the vehicle rolled down into a gorge.
All the six injured were rushed to Mandi hospital and then to District Hospital, Poonch. Three of them were later referred to GMC Hospital, Jammu. They were identified as Atta Ullah, son of Rashid Khan; Naseem Akhtar, daughter of Mir Akbar and Rashida Kouser, wife of Mohd Yasin, residents of Guntrian. Three admitted to DH Poonch are, Abida Kouser, wife of Muneer; Javeda Bi, wife of Mohd Sadiq and Mohd Tariq, son of Mohd Yunis, all hailing from Guntrian.
Meanwhile, at least 16 persons were injured when a mini-bus turned turtle at Dhani Dhar near Rajouri this afternoon. The mishap took place when the vehicle (JK14/ 7636) was on way to Rajouri from BGSB University. After some mechanical snag, vehicle went out of control and turned turtle. The injured were rushed to District Hospital Rajouri where many of them were discharged after first aid.
Medical Superintendent of the Hospital, Dr Mahmood who was supervising the Emergency Unit disclosed that one seriously injured patient was referred to GMC Hospital Jammu. He was identified as Ajaz Ahmed, son of Ali Mohd, resident of Daraj in Budhal. Some of them, were still undergoing treatment in District Hospital. They all were out of danger.
