PATNA, Oct. 30 : Union Home Minister Amit Shah today launched a blistering attack on the opposition during a massive election rally in Biharsharif, describing the upcoming elections as a battle to prevent the return of “jungle raj” in a new disguise rather than just to elect ministers or legislators.
Appealing to the public, Shah said, “On November 6, press the EVM button with such force and anger that its current reaches Italy.” He added that Bihar’s progress over the past two decades is the result of the partnership between Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, and now the state needs to build a new structure on this strong foundation.
Recalling the situation before 2005, Shah said Bihar was gripped by lawlessness marked by killings, kidnappings and extortion rackets.
He accused the Lalu-Rabri regime of overseeing 38 massacres, contrasting it with the post-2005 era when Nitish Kumar restored law and order.
“Compared to 2005, by 2024, Bihar has seen a 20 per cent drop in murders and an 80 per cent decline in robberies and ransom cases,” he stated.
Targeting Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, Shah said, “Just three months ago, Rahul Baba took out a ‘Save the Infiltrators’ march, but we are determined to identify and expel every single infiltrator.” He added that such elements consume India’s resources, deprive the youth of jobs, and engage in anti-national activities, asserting that the Modi government will never compromise on national security.
Highlighting achievements of the double-engine government in Bihar, Shah said projects worth 863 crore rupees have been completed, including the construction of a four-lane highway, an international stadium, a sports complex, and a sports university in Rajgir. He said that in preparation for the 2036 Olympics, which India is keen to host, special efforts are being made so that athletes from Nalanda can bring home medals.
Accusing the opposition of rampant corruption, Shah said, “Lalu Prasad committed fodder, bitumen, and flood relief scams, while Congress looted the nation through scams worth Rs 12 lakh crore.”
“Lalu wants his son to become Bihar’s chief minister and Sonia Gandhi wants her son to become India’s prime minister, but there’s no vacancy for either in Bihar or in Delhi,” he quipped. (UNI)
