20 vehicles seized, 42 challaned for traffic violations

JAMMU, Mar 25: During an enforcement drive here today, police in collaboration with Regional Transport Office (RTO) and Revenue Department organised a joint Naka at Chohala in R.S Pura to check traffic violations.
The team, led by Tehsildar R.S Pura, Chander Shekhar consisted ARTO, Mohd Saleem, ARTO National Highway, Pawan Singh, Inspector Ravi Singh Parihar, SHO Police Station R.S Pura, Inspector Azad, Inspector C.S Balloria and officials from Police Station R.S Pura, took strict action against offenders under various provisions of the law.
As a result of extensive checking by Police and the team of ARTO, Mohd Saleem and other, 20 vehicles were seized and 42 challans were issued bringing the total number of traffic violators booked to 62.
The violations ranged from overloading and permit breaches to reckless driving and non-compliance with safety norms.
The violators were imposed Rs 1,93,500 fine by the ARTOs.
The seized vehicles included matadors, cars, motorcycles, scooties and tractors.
The Jammu police and transport authorities have urged citizens to follow traffic rules and ensure proper documentation to avoid penalties.
