JAMMU, May 28: In twin districts of Udhampur and Reasi, Police foiled attempts of bovine smuggling and rescued 20 bovines besides arresting a smuggler.
Police team of Police Post Tikri, while performing vehicle checking duty at Tikri Naka point, intercepted a Truck bearing registration number JK02BS-6977. Upon checking, 13 bovines were found laden inside the Truck without any valid permission.
Police rescued all the bovines and arrested the Truck driver, identified as Mohd Rafi, son of Mohd Bashir of Zero Morh Talwara. In this regard, case vide FIR No. 71/2025 under relevant sections of law has been registered at Police Station Rehambal.
Meanwhile, Katra police foiled an attempt of smuggling bovines at Nau Devian Naka today when Police intercepted a vehicle bearing registration number JK11E-7954, en route from Reasi towards Katra.
As the driver abandoned the vehicle and fled the spot, Police found seven bovines cruelly loaded in the vehicle, which were being smuggled.
Taking cognizance of the matter, an FIR has been registered at Police Station Katra under case FIR No. 152/2025 U/S 188 IPC and 11 PCA Act. The vehicle has been seized and further investigation is underway to identify and arrest the absconding accused.
