20 bovines rescued

JAMMU, Jan 17: In a major operation, the Bishnah Police successfully foiled a bovine smuggling attempt, rescuing 20 animals from a truck bearing registration number HP73-3535. The truck, travelling from Jammu towards the Kashmir Valley, was intercepted at a checkpoint in Avtara Chak.
According to police officials, the driver of the vehicle managed to flee the scene under the cover of darkness, abandoning the truck and the animals. The operation was conducted under the supervision of SDPO RS Pura and SP Headquarters Jammu.
The rescued bovines were safely taken into custody, and the vehicle was seized by the police. A case has been registered at Police Station Bishnah under FIR Number 07/2025, invoking sections 305/3(5), 125, 132 of the BNS Act, and Section 11 of the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act.
Further investigations are underway to apprehend the driver and identify other individuals involved in the smuggling operation.
