POONCH, Apr 28: Two women were seriously injured in an incident of attack by a wild bear in remote Gagriyan village in Mandi area of Poonch district today.
The victims have been identified as Zarifa Begum (38), wife of Mushtaq Ahmed and Sharifa Begum (42), wife of Ghulam Mohd Jaan, residents of Gagriyaan village of Mandi tehsil in Poonch district.
According to the locals of the area, the women were attacked in the nearby jungle from their house when they were collecting firewood. The family members and adjoining villagers heard the cries of the women and ran for the rescue of the women. The injured were immediately shifted to Mandi hospital and from where they were later referred to District Hospital, Poonch for the advanced treatment.
