2-week research workshop on ‘Capacity Building Programme’ begins at JU

JAMMU, Nov 13: A two week research workshop on “Capacity Building Programme for University and College Teachers began today at Jammu University.
Organized by the Department of Commerce (SAP-DRS II), JU, the workshop is being sponsored by Indian Council of Social Science Research (ICSSR), New Delhi. Main objective of the workshop is to develop research capabilities among young faculty.
The other specific objectives of the workshop include — to develop analytical and report writing skills; to enhance and to develop capacity skills in writing research proposals, conducting research, writing research paper for publication in journals/ edited books.
The selected participants are from different universities/colleges and institutions from States like Odisha, Karnataka, Uttarakhand, Punjab, Rajasthan and J&K and belong to different disciplines such as management, commerce, psychology, sociology, economics, history etc.
The first session of the workshop was addressed by Prof Rekha Chowdhary, ICSSR National Fellow and former Dean Research Studies, JU. She shared her views on relevance of research to academia and talked about the important issues related to research.
The post lunch session lecture was delivered by Prof Kulwant Kaur, Dean Research Studies, JU, on research design and research proposal. She discussed in detail the various steps useful for conducting research, besides discussing about the research characteristics.
The workshop director and HoD Commerce, Prof Hardeep Chahal welcomed the resource person and participants in the morning session while Dr Jeevan Jyoti, co-director, delivered vote of thanks.
