KATHUA, May 6: Sleuths of Forest Protection Force and Territorial Forest Division Kathua seized two trucks loaded with timber logs and firewood (mix) at Lakhanpur today.
An official spokesman said that continuing its drive against smuggling of firewood/ timber outside the JKUT from the border area of Kathua district, a team of officials of APCP Lakhanpur Forest Division Kathua with the assistance of officials of Forest Protection Force, Gamma Unit J-3, Kathua headed by Sanjeev Singh Range Officer, Check Post under the direct supervision of Dr Rajan Singh, DFO Kathua and Dharminder Sharma Dy. Director FPF, Kathua seized two trucks bearing Registration No. JK021A/5887 and JK 13D/3999. trying to smuggle the firewood outside the UT under the grab of NOC generated from NTPS portal and invoice.
The case has been registered at Range Office Anti Polythene Check Post Lakhanpur for violation of section 41, 42 of Indian Forest Act. 1927 and provisions of SO 81 of 2020 and confiscation proceedings have been initiated. Further investigation is being carried out.
