RAJOURI, July 16: Two thieves escaped from custody from Rajouri Police Station last night.
Sources said Basharat Hussain and Wajid Hussain, residents of village Choudhary Nad in Rajouri were arrested two days back in connected with a theft case in the same area. Where cash and house hold items worth Rs 1.50 lakhs were stolen some days back. The police managed to arrest the accused during raids at different locations.
These two were brought outside the lock up for natural call by Sentary on duty Selection Grade Constable Zahoor Ahmed. Both escaped during mid night. While the police was tight lipped over the issue, the SSP Rajouri Mubassar Lattifi admitted that two accused held in a theft case escaped last night from custody. He said Sentary on duty SGC Zahoor Ahmed was suspended and arrested in this connection and a case has been registered against him.
Meanwhile, the police parties from Rajouri Thana were conducting series of raids to re-arrest the accused persons. Some family members of the accused have also been detained to mount pressure on the accused.
