2 thefts in Mendar village, cops attacked

MENDHAR, Apr 7: Some thieves barged into the two houses of the real brothers at Ari village and decamped with huge cash, some gold besides electronics and other items last night.
Reports said that Mohd Arif and Mohd Maroof, both sons of Mohd Hussain, residents of Ari had gone to attend function along with their families to another village last night. When they returned home today, they found their houses burgled. Locks of the doors and almirahs were broken and huge cash besides other items were found stolen. These two brothers were working in Saudi Arabia and had returned home recently. They told police that Rs 3 lakh cash, some ornaments, seven imported blankets and several other items were stolen. The police registered a case and started investigation.
Meanwhile, when police party led by SHO Mendhar reached Ari village to nab the suspects identified by the victims, the police party came under attack from the families of suspects. They resorted to stone pelting on cops and then escaped. The suspects Mehmood and Mohd Yunis managed to slip away. Two constables were injured in the attack. Later, SDPO Mendhar Shahid Nahim reached there along with some reinforcement to control the situation. Two stone pelters were nabbed by police. FIRs have been registered against them.
