According to official sources, the dismissed SPOs have been identified as Abdul Latif and Mohammad Abbas. It has been revealed that Abdul Latif was in contact with terrorists, assisting them and providing support, for which an FIR was registered and he was then sentenced in Doda Jail also.
The second dismissed SPO, Mohammad Abbas, has four FIRs registered against him. He too had links with terrorists and anti national elements, sources said.
Officials while confirming the dismissal said Senior Superintendent of Police, Kathua, Mohita Sharma ordered the dismissal of the two SPOs with immediate effect.
Police officers stated that this stern action clearly demonstrates that there is no place for terror sympathizers or anti-national elements within the Jammu and Kashmir Police or in the UT. The move is part of security agencies’ strict “zero tolerance policy” towards anyone associated with terrorist networks.
The Kathua police’s action sends a strong message across the Union Territory that those who betray the nation will not remain in uniform and face punitive action under law. This is also testimony to fact to Government’s commitment to erode entire support structure of terrorism in the UT.
