2 quintal of poppy straw seized, narcotic smugglers arrested

UDHAMPUR, Feb 4: Udhampur Police today seized two quintals of contraband substance (poppy straw) from narcotic smugglers , who were intercepted at Jakhani and Roundomail area of District Udhampur.
Giving details, SSP Udhampur Rajiv Pandey said that a Police party, led SHO Udhampur, Insp Vijay Singh Choudhary, under the supervision of SDPO Dr Rohit Chadgal and Rajinder Kumar Katoch, Addl. SP Udhampur , laid a naka at Jakhani, NHW and intercepted one truck bearing registration number PB29X- 3047.
During checking, 100 kg of poppy straw was recovered from the vehicle. The accused driver namely Mangal Singh son of Makhan Singh of Ludhiana was arrested on the spot and recovered poppy straw was also seized.
In this connection, a case FIR number 62/2020, under section 8/15 NDPS Act has been registered at PS Udhampur and further investigation of the case is going on.
In another case, Police party led by SHO Udhampur, Vijay Singh Choudhary and assisted by SI Vijay Sharma, IC PP Roundomail, laid a naka at Ròundomail near CRPF Camp Dhar Road and intercepted one more truck bearing registration number PB10CX- 3848 for checking. During search, another consignment of 100 kg of poppy straw was recovered from the vehicle and the accused driver of the vehicle namely Alok Singh son of Balkar Singh of Balachak Punjab was arrested on the spot.
In this connection, case FIR number 61/2020, U/S 8/15 NDPS Act has been registered at PS Udhampur
