UDHAMPUR, Nov 25: In separate cases, Police arrested an inter-state narco smuggler who was carrying 7.8 kgs poppy straw in a Tanker while another drug peddler was held along with 10 grams of heroin.
Police team from Police Post Roundomail, while performing vehicle checking at naka point, stopped a Tanker bearing registration number NL01L-5077. During checking, 7.855 kgs poppy straw like substance was recovered from possession of driver of the vehicle, identified as Manjinder Singh, son of Ajit Singh of Ghot Pokhar, Gurdaspur, Punjab.
The accused driver was arrested on the spot. A case under relevant sections of NDPS Act has been registered in this connection in Police Station Udhampur.
Meanwhile in other case, Police team from Police Station Udhampur, led by SHO Raghuvir Singh, apprehended one person from Zero Morh Jakhar area. On frisking of the apprehended person, 10 grams of heroin like contraband substance was recovered from his possession. Police seized the contraband and arrested the accused, identified as Des Raj alias Desu, son of Parma of Jakhad, Udhampur.
A case vide FIR No. 464/2024 U/S 8/21/22/ NDPS Act has been registered in this regard in P/S Udhampur.
