Security forces, including Sopore Police and 22 Rashtriya Rifles (RR), cordoned off the forest area where militants were hiding in a concealed hideout.
An official said that two militants are believed to be trapped inside.
As the security forces reached near the hideout militants opened fire on them leading to a gun battle.
A huge blast was heard near the hideout after which no firing was reported.
The operation is ongoing, with additional reinforcements deployed to ensure the area is secured.
This development comes after a similar operation on November 8, 2024, in the Panipora area of Sopore, where security forces neutralized two militants. Arms, ammunition, and other incriminating materials were recovered during that operation.
