RAJOURI, May 16: Two labourers died due to drowning in Manawar river in Dalogada area of Rajouri, located on Rajouri- Jammu highway this evening.
Reports said two persons identified as Tariq Hussain, son of Saeed Mohammad, resident of Jhalas in Poonch and Mohammad Imran, son of Bagh Hussain, resident of Mandi tehsil in district Poonch, were working as a labourers in road construction work in Dalogada area of Rajouri and after completing their work today evening, they went to the nearby river for taking bath.
While bathing one of them started drowning and the second one tried to save him but he too, was drowned in the river. As the news of drowning of two labourers in the river was received, Rajouri police team led by SHO Rajouri Inspector Aejaz Ahmed Wani started rescue and search operation with the help of SDRF team led by DySP Jabeen Akhter and after about 3 hours of hard work, both the bodies were fished out from the river and taken to GMC Rajouri.
The bodies of both the labourers have been kept in the mortuary of GMC Rajouri and their families have been informed.
