2 knocked to death in road mishaps, labourer hangs self

UDHAMPUR, Oct 2: In two separate road accidents, a boy and an unidentified young Sadhu were knocked to death, here today  while a middle aged man was found hanging under mysterious circumstances in Majalta.
Reports said that pedestrian Danesh Sharma, son of Sohan Lal of village Balian, Udhampur, was hit by a truck JK14D-3770  near Bye  pass National Highway Round Mail. Locals took the injured to District Hospital Udhampur where doctors referred him to GMC Hospital Jammu in view of his critical condition.  However, he succumbed to his injuries in the evening.
Police has registered a case in this connection.
In  separate road accident at Tikri, under the jurisdiction of Rehambal Police Station, an unidentified young Sadhu was knocked to death by an oil tanker ( HP),  bearing registration number JK02AJ-8669. The Sadhu reportedly died on the spot while the tanker driver fled the scene along with his vehicle.
However, acting swiftly, Police chased the driver and arrested him.  Dead body of the deceased has been kept at PHC  Tikri for identification.
Meanwhile, a middle aged man was found hanging with a tree near his house at main chowk Majalta.
The deceased was identified as Vijay Kumar (58) son of Sandokh Ram of village Thlora, who was working as a labourer. He was found  hanging from a tree  near his home, under mysterious circumstances.
Local people spotted him hanging and informed the police, which reached the spot and shifted the body to hospital for legal formalities.
Cause behind the suicide could not be ascertained while Police has registered a case in this connection.
