DRASS, July 16: Two persons lost their lives while 14 others were injured after a civilian vehicle met with an accident near Gumri in Drass area of Kargil district today.
Officials said a passenger vehicle carrying 17 people met with an accident at Gumri around 5:45 AM, resulting in death of two individuals on the spot and injuries to 14 others, 11 of them seriously, who have been admitted to District Hospital Kargil.

The driver of the vehicle, en-route to Srinagar from Drass, escaped unhurt in the accident, they said.
Soon after the accident, Army launched a rescue operation and shifted the injured to MI room in Drass, where they were given first-aid, officials further said.
Later, they said, 11 of the severely injured were taken to District Hospital Kargil for advanced treatment while those with minor injuries are undergoing treatment at Drass hospital.
Police have identified the deceased as Bahujan Joshi son of Damodar Joshi of Uttarakhand and Manik Tudu son of Shiv Lal Tudu of Donka, Jharkhand.
Meanwhile, a case under the relevant Sections of the law has also been registered at the concerned Police Station to determine the cause of the accident.
