2 held with 21 kg poppy straw

RAMBAN, Sept 20: Police here today held two suspected drug peddlers and seized over 21 kg of poppy straw-like substance from them in Banihal.
According to Police sources, cops from Police Station Banihal during a routine Naka, checking near Shafa Pani intercepted two individuals moving suspiciously from Banihal Railway Station towards the market area.
On their search, cops recovered 21.284 kg poppy straw-like contraband.
The accused were identified as Ajay, son of Tarseem, resident of Balmiki Mohalla, Tanda, Hoshiarpur, Punjab and Raman Kumar, son of Bal Krishan, resident of Chak Kasim, Dasuya, Hoshiarpur, Punjab. Both were arrested on the spot and the contraband was seized following all legal formalities.
A case in FIR No. 97 of 2025 has been registered at Police Station Banihal in this regard Under Sections 8, 15 and 29 of the NDPS Act and investigation started.
