SRINAGAR, Feb 25: Police have arrested two drug peddlers in separate incidents and recovered more than 10 Kgs of contraband substance from their possession in Kashmir valley.
Police on Tuesday said that in its drive against the drug smugglers and peddlers, it established a surprise checking at Narbal Sozieth Bund and intercepted a vehicle which tried to flee from the spot but was apprehended.
During checking, a substantial quantity of 910 grams of heroin-like substance was recovered from the driver of said vehicle.

The accused has been identified as Ishtiaq Ahmed Khowaja a resident of Dildar Karnah Kupwara and was subsequently arrested. The vehicle used in the commission of crime has also been seized.
Police in Kulgam in south Kashmir during patrolling at general road Malwan in the jurisdiction of Police Station Devsar intercepted a suspicious person carrying a bag.
During the search police recovered 10 kgs of grinded Cannabis like contraband substance filled in the said bag.
The drug peddler identified as Arsalan Azad Ganie a resident of Malwan was arrested on the spot.
Accordingly, cases under relevant sections of law have been registered at respective police stations and further investigations have been initiated.
Police have warned of strict action against the persons indulging in drug trafficking, and other criminal activities and urged upon the citizens to cooperate with the police to eradicate the menace of drugs from the society.
