POONCH, July 9: Two minor sisters were killed while four other members of the family were injured, when a cooking gas (LPG) cylinder was exploded in a house at Surankote town of Poonch district last night.
A police spokesman said that mishap took place at around 8.45 pm when the cooking was going on in the house of SPO Shabir Ahmed. Suddenly, due to LPG leakage, the cylinder caught fire and entire kitchen came into the grip of fire flames. The family members tried to douse the fire and suddenly the cylinder got exploded.
While 4-year-old Shabnam Kouser and 2-year-old Nazeen Kouser, daughters of Shabir got killed on the spot, four other members including Shabir sustained injuries.
Police party led by SDPO Surankote, Riaz Tantray and SHO reached the spot and they controlled the fire with the help of locals. The injured were rushed to Pooch hospital while dead bodies of the girls were removed to local hospital for postmortem. The other injured were identified as Sona Bi, mother of Shabir, his son Juned (3), and daughter Shamim (5). The police has taken cognizance of the matter.
