RAJOURI, May 22: The police arrested two drug-peddlers and recovered a consignment of banned tablets from their possession in Kotranka area of Rajouri today.
Official sources said that acting on specific intelligence, a police team from Police Station Kandi, led by SHO Abrar Khan, laid a checkpoint and intercepted a motorcycle bearing registration number JK11D-1079. The naka operation was carried out under the overall supervision of SP Operations Budhal, Wajahid Hussain, and DySP Operations Rajouri, Shami Kumar.
Upon interception, two individuals riding the motorcycle were apprehended and identified as Fareed Ahmed, son of Ali Mohammad, a resident of Jaglanoo, and Mukhtar Hussain, son of Maneer Hussain, a resident of Khadyoon, Kandi.
During their personal search, the police recovered a total of 36 strips containing 364 banned tablets from their possession. This included 29 strips (290 tablets) of Tapentadol, 3 strips (34 tablets) of Tramadol, and 4 strips (40 tablets) of Pregabalin (marketed as Pregzara). The drugs were seized on the spot and both individuals were taken into custody.
In this connection, a formal case under FIR No. 53/2025 has been registered at Police Station Kandi under the relevant provisions of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act. Further investigation into the case is currently underway to ascertain the source and supply chain of the seized drugs.
