2 drug peddlers held with poppy straw, charas

SAMBA, June 5: Samba police claimed to have arrested two drug peddlers and recovered 500 grams of charas and 4.50 kilograms of poppy straw from their possession today.
Police said on the basis of reliable information, regarding drug peddler, a team from Police Station Samba headed by Inspector, Suraj Pathania SHO, laid a nakka on Jammu -Pathankot National Highway near Diani area of Samba. During nakka checking police intercepted one person namely Roshan Lal, son of Vijay Kumar resident of village Sargal who was moving on foot. During his frisking police recovered 300 grams of charas from his possession and arrested him on spot.
Later during his interrogation he disclosed that, he had purchased charas from one Sunil Singh who is resident of Ghagwal. The SHO Samba constituted a team headed by Sub Inspector, Balbir Singh which raided the house of Sunil Singh, son of Ashok Singh resident of Gurha Jattan Ghagwal. During search police recovered 4.50 kilograms of poppy straw and 200 grams of charas from his house.
The whole operation was conducts under the overall supervision of SSP Samba, Shakti Pathak.
Suraj Pathania said that both the accused have been arrested and 4.50 Kilograms of poppy straw and 500 grams of charas has been recovered from their possession and in this connection a case FIR No 145 under Section 8/20 was registered against them at Police Station, Samba.
Police has also appealed youth to stay away from drug and take part in co – curricular activities. He also appealed to the people If anyone comes to know about drugs, inform the police immediately, and the identity of such persons will be kept secret.
