2 drug-peddlers held with heroin

RAJOURI, Mar 5: In a significant action against drug-trafficking, Rajouri Police recovered nearly 12 grams of heroin and arrested two alleged drug-peddlers during a routine checking.
Reports said a police party from Police Station Rajouri, during routine patrolling in new Bus Stand area at Salani, intercepted a vehicle bearing registration number JK02AL-7477 for checking. During the inspection, two persons travelling in the vehicle were identified as Tariq Mehmood, son of Parvaz Ahmed, resident of Hasploot in Tehsil Thannamandi, District Rajouri, and Shoket Nazir, son of Nazir Hussain, resident of Hasploot, Thannamandi, District Rajouri.
Upon conducting their personal search, police recovered approximately 12 grams of heroin from their possession. The contraband was seized on the spot following due legal procedure, and both accused were immediately taken into custody. The vehicle used in the commission of the crime was also seized.
In this connection, a case FIR No. 98/2026 under sections 8/21/22/25/29 of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act, 1985 has been registered at Police Station Rajouri and further investigation is underway.
