UDHAMPUR, Jan 31: The police arrested two drug-peddlers and recovered some quantity of heoin from their possession in Tikri area of Udhampur today.
A police team of Police Post Tikri while conducting routine traffic checking at a naka near Tikri intercepted an Alto car bearing Registration No. JK01C-0054 which was moving from Jammu towards Srinagar.
During the checking, three persons were found travelling in the vehicle. On questioning, the driver disclosed his name as Shahid Latief, son of Abdul Latief of Doligam, while the two persons sitting on the rear seat disclosed their identities as Sahaam Sultan Rah, son of Mohd. Sultan Rah of Qamarwadi, Karan Nagar, Srinagar and Rouf Nazir Wani, son of Nazir Ahmed Wani of Gulshan Nagar Bypass, Srinagar.
Upon conducting the personal search of the occupants, 35.20 grams of heroin was recovered from the possession of Sahaam Sultan Rah and Rouf Nazir Wani. Both were arrested on the spot.
Accordingly, FIR No. 21/2026 U/S 8/21/22 of the NDPS Act has been registered at Rehambal Police Station against them. Further investigation in the matter is underway.
