RAJOURI, May 20: The police arrested two drug-peddlers in Kandi area of Rajouri and recovered 4.275 kgs of poppy straw from their possession late last evening.
Official sources said that acting on specific information, a police party from Police Station Kandi led by SHO Abrar Khan under the supervision of SP Operation Budhal
Wajahid Hussain and DSP Operation Rajouri Shami Kumar, apprehended two drug peddlers namely- Mohd Younis, son of Shamas Din and Javaid Shah, son of Mubarak Shah, both residents of Dhar Sakari, Kotranka.
The accused were intercepted while transporting 4.275 kilograms of poppy straw in a Santro car bearing registration number JK03B-2670 from the main road Rangbagla, Kandi.
In this regard a case FIR No. 52/2025 under relevant sections of NDPS Act has been registered at Police Station Kandi, and investigation is ongoing to trace the forward and backward linkages.
