2 drug peddlers arrested

SRINAGAR, May 17: Police today arrested two drug peddlers from Srinagar and Shopian, recovering brown sugar and charas from their possession.
As per authorities, a police team from Police Station Bemina, during patrolling, intercepted a scooty rider at Hamza Colony near Medage building.
He has been identified as Mohd Rafiq Kaloo, son of Ab. Khaliq Kaloo, resident of Sumbal Bandipora A/P Mansoor Colony Bemina, police said.
“During search, a substantial quantity of brown sugar and charas-like substances were recovered from his possession.”
He has been arrested, and the scooty bearing registration number JK15B-0703 has also been seized.
Accordingly, a case vide FIR No. 36/2025 under the NDPS Act has been registered at Police Station Bemina and investigation has been initiated.
In Shopian, authorities stated that a police team from Police Post Reshnagri, at a checkpoint established at Pundhaan, arrested a drug peddler identified as Aadil Ahmad Ahanger, son of Bashir Ahmad Ahanger, resident of Muradpora Shopian.
“During search, 80 grams of charas-like substance was recovered from his possession.”
Accordingly, a case vide FIR No. 18/2025 under relevant sections of law has been registered at Police Station Heerpora, and investigation has been initiated.
