2 drug peddlers arrested, 54.99 grams heroin recovered

UDHAMPUR, Feb 9: Police arrested two inter-district drug peddlers and recovered 54.99 grams of heroin from their possession.
Police team of Police Station Chenani while conducting naka checking duty at Motor Shed, intercepted a Baleno car bearing registration number JK03P- 7083, which was coming from Jammu towards Srinagar.
During checking, 54.99 grams of heroin was recovered from two persons sitting in the car who disclosed their identities as Gulzar Khan son of Gulzar Ahmed Khan of Devipora, Anantnag and Abid Hussain Peer, son of Peer Siraj-U-Din of Kokernag, Anantnag. 13.10 grams heroin was recovered from driver Gulzar Khan and 41.89 grams heroin from Abid Hussain Peer.
Police arrested the duo and seized the recovered heroin as well as the car. In this regard, case FIR No. 22/2026 under Sections 8/21/22 NDPS Act has been registered at PS Chennai.
Meanwhile, Udhampur Police apprehended three absconders wanted in different cases who had been evading arrest.
An absconder namely Gourav Bandral, son of Kishore Singh of Garnai, District Udhampur, wanted in FIR No. 17/2025 U/S 82(2)/85/351(2)/49 BNS & 4 Dowry Act, was arrested after being declared absconder by the Munsiff Court, Udhampur.
Another absconder Parkash Singh, son of Dharam Singh of Dhanunta, Tehsil Panchari, District Udhampur, involved in FIR No. 94/2020 U/S 379 IPC and absconding since 2020, was arrested on a warrant U/S 299 Cr PC issued by the Sub-Judge Udhampur.
Tamana Sharma daughter of Nek Ram of Gandhi Nagar, District Jammu wanted in FIR No. 17/2025 U/S 82(2)/85/351(2)/49 BNS & 4 Dowry Act, was apprehended and produced before the Munsiff Court, Udhampur.
