JAMMU, Sept 3: Two persons were killed while two others injured in landslide and house collapse in Surankote and Mendhar area of district Poonch today.
SDPO Surankote Riaz Tantray said that 12-year-old Rabia Kouser and 10- year old Mohd Azhar, children of Showkat Hussain, resident of Morha Sanglani in Surankote were going to their school on foot in the morning. On the way both the children were hit by landslides and critically injured. The villagers removed them from the debris and rushed to Surankote hospital where girl was declared as dead. The injured Azhar was referred to GMC hospital Jammu. His condition was said to be serious.
Report from Mendhar said that 22-year -old Rehana, wife of Mohd Risat and their five goats were killed when their house got collapsed at village Kas Baladi in Balakote this morning. There was strong wild storm in the area at around 6 am and during storm a big tree fell on their house.
While all the other family members escaped, Rehana was killed and her body was removed from the debris by the villagers after long search. One Tasleem Akhtar of Tappa village was also injured when a flying tin sheet during wind storm hit her. She was admitted to SDH Mendhar.
